| Name: | Daniel Vinyard |

| Birthdate: | 01-01 |
Character Name: Daniel Vinyard
Character Series: Exit Fate
Age: 32
Background: Pretty much everything about Daniel's background is spoileriffic, be warned.
In the Almengan Empire, a country that bordered the Kirgard Kingdom to the north, the eighteen-year-old emperor gave birth to a son. The child, Siegfried, was sickly, and due to the small age difference between his father and himself he was never expected to be emperor himself. Because of this, he was much left to himself, aided by the fact that his father was a warlike ruler with little interest in his son. Siegfried took to pursuing knowledge of all kinds - he read about history, about magic, about nearly everything there existed books on.
What ended up catching his eye were the books on powerful spirits and demons, and particularly how they could be summoned into a human's body. Having always been disgusted by his father's warlike ways, and by the way history seemed to repeat itself with nations endlessly fighting, Siegfried realized what he wanted most: for the nations of the world to live in unity.
As a young man, Siegfried met a wealthy merchant's daughter, Sigrid, and quickly fell in love with her. For a short time, they were married. However, certain events ended their romance painfully fast...
Siegfried had discovered a spirit, known only as Hand of Fate, who was powerful and determined enough to make his dream come true. Siegfried intended to summon Hand of Fate into his own body; however, due to his physical weakness, he came to the conclusion that he would be unable to survive the process, a bitter failure for him. Furthermore, a spirit would eventually take over the mind of a human, driving them mad. The only way to prevent this was for it to be passed down from mother to child... but at a price.
Siegfried would let nothing stand in the way of his dreams, even if it meant the death of the woman he loved, and performed the summoning on his pregnant wife. Sigrid, sacrificed for her husbands ambitions, died in childbirth. However, a complication occurred: Instead of giving birth to one child, Sigrid had given birth to twins.
Although it was unsure at the time which child had merged with Hand of Fate, the boy, Daniel, was the one who had. His sister, Brunhild, had ended up with an even stranger result of Sigrid's sacrifice: Just as Daniel was combined with Hand of Fate, she herself was merged with their mother.
However, none of this was known at the time, so the two infants were treated equally: that is to say, they were both sent to an orphanage in the Kirgard town of Levier, where Siegfried believed they would realize their potential. The birth of the twins was kept secret, and Sigrid's death was attributed to natural causes.
Daniel and Brunhild grew up together in Levier's orphanage, along with two close friends, Angel and Jovian. The group of four got along very well together. Brunhild, showing the influence of her mother's spirit, was very protective of Daniel.
Years later, when Daniel was a young man, Almenga attacked Kirgard. Wanting to protect his country, Daniel, along with Angel and Jovian, joined the army, leaving Brunhild behind in Levier. The time when they were fighting in the war was also the time the Hand of Fate first took over.
The three of them were surrounded by enemy soldiers, with little to no chance of survival. Angel was injured, as well. However, just when the three were sure they were done for, Hand of Fate took over for Daniel. In mere minutes, Daniel had slaughtered every one of the enemy soldiers, leaving Jovian and Angel to look on in terror.
The war ended abruptly when Siegfried murdered his father, the current emperor, and brought the fighting to a halt. However, although Angel and Jovian several times reminded Daniel of what had happened that day when he had singlehandedly killed all those soldiers, he always forgot immediately afterward - Hand of Fate's doing, of course.
Soon after that was the second time Hand of Fate took control. Believing that Brunhild was stifling Daniel's potential, the spirit ordered Daniel's sister to leave for Almenga, where their father was. Frightened and unhappy, Brunhild packed her things and did as he'd said. The only explanation Hand of Fate gave to Angel and Jovian was: "She's gone. Don't ever speak of her again." From then on, Daniel forgot completely that he'd ever had a sister, immediately forgetting all mentions of her by anyone.
Brunhild, as instructed, went to Almenga where she was welcomed by her father, particularly after he learned that his wife's spirit lived on inside her. She was educated, and learned very fast, and eventually took the place of Almenga's supreme commander, something that confused everyone else, particularly the former supreme commander.
Daniel stayed in the Kirgard army, and was a colonel by the time he was thirty-two. That was when Kirgard decided to invade the Zelmony State Union. The two countries had been at odds for longer than anyone could remember, generally over a contested piece of land in a strategic location called Helman Island, currently under Zelmony's control. However, this time, Kirgard did not plan to stop there.
Daniel was very opposed to the war. However, he stayed in the army, believing that by participating in the war he could somehow make a difference. He was at odds with Jovian, who had just been promoted to general, about this; Jovian believed that the only way to bring peace was to conquer Zelmony. However, they remained good friends.
The war began, and though the first battle went well, something happened after it. Daniel and the others were at Kelsinger Pass, in their camps, when suddenly Daniel heard fighting. Believing it to be a surprise attack by Zelmony, Daniel ran to see what was happening, and was knocked out. He woke up in the elven village of Alfheim and was told that he had been found in the middle of the woods a day ago. He went immediately back to Kelsinger Pass, realizing that he'd been missing for two days, only to be called a traitor when he got there. Frightened, he explored Helman Island in an attempt to find out what had happened that night.
However, due to Daniel's 'betrayal', Kirgard had changed their plans and attacked the rest of Helman Island immediately. Daniel barely made it off the island without being captured, along with an elf named Ljusalf who had chosen to accompany him. There, in Blackwater, a Zelmony port city, he encountered a Kirgard soldier, Ayara, who had been under his command before the Kelsinger incident. She explained what had happened that night: A group of Kirgard soldiers had entered their camp and proceeded to slaughter everyone they saw. One of the soldiers had been captured, and according to General Leonius, had said that Daniel was their leader. Ayara, who was still completely loyal to Daniel, joined up with him and Ljusalf. Daniel, realizing that only a Kirgardian could have arranged the whole thing, started to wonder if it had been Jovian. Had his ideals been so much of an obstacle to his friend that Jovian would want him out of the way?
Daniel soon decided what to do next: If he couldn't make a difference from the Kirgard side of the war, he would join the State army instead. Having made up his mind, he went to the Matrech State Capital and ended up speaking with the Chancellor. It was decided that Daniel would be put in charge of his own unit, which he eventually ended up calling the Elysium Army.
After a few small assignments, such as taking care of rebellions in the state of Highland, Daniel was assigned to examine an abandoned castle, in the past a strategic military base, and see if it was fit to be used again. He explored the old castle and talked to the owner, and it was agreed that the castle would become the headquarters of the Elysium Army.
In a few months, the castle had been cleaned up. Happy that things were finally going well, Daniel went for a walk in the gardens before going to sleep. At the castle gates, he encountered Brunhild. "So it's true," she said. "You really have forgotten me completely." Daniel had no idea who she was and blacked out. He had a dream where he was talking to Brunhild, at a younger age, and then woke up in his room; Ljusalf had found him passed out by the castle gates.
At that point, Daniel was summoned to meet the Highland governor, Banhk. On his way there, he was ambushed by a group of Highland rebels and taken to their base, where he spoke with their leader. Sympathetic to their causes but unwilling to join them, he managed to escape and go see Governor Banhk as he had originally intended. He told the governor what the rebel leader, Rock, had said about corruption among the Highland officials. Banhk told him, more or less, to mind his own business, to which Daniel replied that if there was anything illegal going on, he would do his best to make sure he didn't get away with it. His visit over, Daniel headed back to Elysium Castle.
Daniel then learned that the girl who had taken him and Ljusalf to Blackwater had gone off to confront the Kirgard army by herself, over some 'treasure' that had belonged to her grandfather. Daniel, both wanting to help her out and hoping to be able to talk things out with the Kirgardians, went after her. Unfortunately, the one in charge of the exploration was an old rival of Daniel's, Bruce, who Daniel knew he couldn't reason with. Instead, he fought off the Kirgard forces, and checked out the treasure with the girl; it turned out to be useless.
Returning to Elysium Castle, Daniel was faced with his first real challenge: he would have to fight against his former Kirgard allies, who had taken over Blackwater and were planning to invade Mayfall. A messenger had come from Mayfall explaining their plan to drive Kirgard out, and Daniel followed their plan; however, it turned out to be a hoax by the Kirgard general - when Daniel arrived at the location he'd been sent to, the town was empty except for two (debatably mentally unsound) Kirgard commandos who stalled him. Needing someone to defeat the 'undefeatable' General Keyser, Daniel was sent to convince retired strategist Bast Gunwood to come back to the Zelmony military and help them win this battle. He was successful, and Bast came up with a plan to drive Kirgard out of Zelmony. The other problem was that Kirgard had a tentative alliance with the Highland rebels - Zelmony would be spread too thin if they tried to address both issues.
To solve the matter, Daniel was sent to meet with Rock. They discussed the issues - Highland's rebels were mostly being used by Kirgard, and Zelmony could not handle attacks from both Highland and Kirgard. They eventually reached a deal: Daniel would tell his superiors that the rebels had agreed not to attack, in exchange for being allowed to talk to the Zelmony government about their issues afterwards. What would actually happen would be this: While Zelmony was focused on Kirgard, the rebels would overthrow Highland's government. Daniel believed that it was the best they could hope for, and agreed.
Everything went as planned. The Kirgard forces were driven out of Zelmony, for the time being, and Highland overthrew the government, lynched Governor Banhk, and became their own republic. Daniel was berated for trusting them, but otherwise did not take the blame for anything.
In the lull between battles, Daniel made a trip to Faraday University in the Oischin State, hoping to find a cure for his apparent amnesia. He found a hypnotist who had a technique for finding the answers to questions, and he agreed to go along with it. In his dream, he spoke to Jovian, asking if his friend would really betray him. Then, he found himself in the orphanage in Levier. Seeing Brunhild there, he went to speak with her, but when she turned around, he saw himself instead - or at least, someone who looked like him but was not. Though he didn't know it at the time, Daniel was seeing Hand of Fate personified. The spirit told Daniel that he was being deceived by Brunhild, and the Daniel should only trust him, because he was Daniel. Shaken, Daniel inadvertently ended the hypnosis and woke up.
When Daniel returned to Elysium Castle, he was told that there was a visitor to see him. He was surprised to see that it was Angel; she had abandoned her position in the Kirgard army to learn the truth about what had happened with Daniel. He told her the whole story, including his fears that Jovian had been the one to set it up. Angel slapped him, and chastised him for even thinking such a thing - she told him that she and Jovian had suffered just as much as he had when he was branded a traitor, and here he was in a higher position than ever, actually benefiting from the Kelsinger incident. Daniel apologized. Angel also told him about the time during the Almenga war when Daniel had lost himself and killed all those soldiers.
Daniel asked Angel about who Brunhild was, and she revealed the truth: Brunhild was his sister, who had grown up together with them in Levier. One day, she had disappeared and Daniel had told them never to speak of her again... years later, she had reappeared as the supreme commander of the Almengan army.
Angel then told him what she'd come there to say: Jovian was planning a surprise attack on Matrech. It would be easy to catch them by surprise and take control of Zelmony once and for all... unless Daniel warned Zelmony in advance about the attack. Daniel was torn; on the one hand, he had worked hard to prove his loyalty to Zelmony... but on the other hand, if he didn't warn them, the war would finally be over.
Eventually, after discussing with Ljusalf, Daniel chose a third choice. On the day of the invasion, he led the Elysium Army out into the middle of the attacking Kirgard forces and the overwhelmed Matrech Guard. There, he announced that if either side fought, the Elysium Army would go after them. Both sides were forced to retreat, and Daniel was relieved that he had found a bloodless way to deal with the situation.
However, immediately afterward, the Knights of Matrech came to Daniel and arrested him for treason. Daniel went with them willingly, and spent several days in a cell. A lawyer, hired by Angel, represented him in the trial; however, it became quickly clear that the whole thing had been completely rigged by Vosch, Matrech's governor, and he was sentenced to death.
Before Daniel could be taken away, Ayara and Angel, along with a few other members of the Elysium Army, helped him to escape. They fled to Elysium Castle, where Jovian and his men had joined up with the Elysium Army. The entire Elysium Army was branded an army of traitors, and Matrech attacked Elysium Castle, only to be deflected. Feeling betrayed, the Matrech Guard issued a statement: any member of the Elysium army who returned to Matrech within the next few days would keep their rank in the army. If not, they would be seen as a traitor.
Daniel spoke to his men, and managed to convince a little under half of the Elysium Army to stay. Along with Kirgard's army, they first attacked Mayfall, where Daniel had a bizarre encounter with the two Kirgard commandos from before, now on Zelmony's side. He was given surprise assistance from General Nashal of the faraway country Gojistan, who wished to form an alliance with the Elysium Army. Then, they attacked and took control of Matrech. The Matrech Guard agreed to join the Elysium Army in an attempt to end the fighting between the nations once and for all.
Daniel received a letter from Brunhild after that, saying that they needed to talk and proposing that they meet in a town on Helman Island. Along with Angel and Jovian, he went, only to find not Brunhild but a strange man named Clint there. Clint claimed that Daniel had an evil force inside of him, and that it was his job to hunt down evils such as those and destroy them. They fought Clint off; however, Daniel was shaken by the encounter and wondered if this had anything to do with the time he had singlehandedly slaughtered an entire group of Almenga soldiers.
They returned to Elysium Castle, where Ljusalf approached Daniel. He explained that Daniel possessed a force called 'fate' or 'destiny' - a force that did not control his actions as one might think, but that lent him the power to make a different in the world. He explained that elves could sense this force, and that it was inherently neutral, but could be used for good or for evil.
After that night, Daniel discussed with Jovian and Angel, and the three decided to return to Levier in the hopes that it would trigger Daniel's memories. Along the way, as they went through Kelsinger Pass, they ran into Brunhild. She fought them, acting coldly toward her brother and childhood friends, and then, when she lost, summoned a group of soldiers dressed in Kirgard uniform, explaining that they were loyal to her. She continued to say that she had caused the Kelsinger incident - Daniel was furious, asking what right she had to destroy his life like that. Brunhild replied that he had had no opportunities in Kirgard, and that he'd risen to the top since that incident, therefore it had been for his benefit.
Brunhild then explained that the soldiers would kill him and his friends unless he reached for the power inside him: the Hand of Fate. Jovian and Angel urged Daniel not to do it, but when Brunhild threatened to kill Jovian, saying she had no use for him, Daniel snapped. Hand of Fate took over, almost instantly killing every one of the soldiers. The spirit in Daniel's body then advanced on Brunhild, who commented that Daniel was growing stronger and better at controlling it. Hand of Fate, uninterested, threatened to kill Brunhild, and she fled. The spirit then turned to Angel and Jovian, saying that they were a bad influence on Daniel and was about to kill Jovian when, through his two friends' pleading, Daniel snapped back to himself. The three were horribly shaken, and Daniel swore he'd never let that side of himself emerge again.
Despite what had happened, the three continued on their journey to Levier, but were stopped along the way by an injured soldier who wished to speak with them. He asked if Elysium Castle was safe, and then gave them a key, which when used, teleported them back to Elysium Castle. The soldier, desperate to talk to General Eander, who had moved his forces from the capital to help with the war against Zelmony, broke horrible news: Almenga had invaded the Kingdom, and the king was dead.
Apparently, Almenga had taken control of St. Reinard, the capital city. Their plans to return to Levier ruined, the Elysium Army's goal became to drive Almenga out of their country. However, their first concern was a mountain tribe that had taken over Vishnu Citadel, a very strategic Kirgard location. They had attacked in the past, but had always been deflected; with the recent invasion, however, they'd had the chance they needed. With some work, the Elysium Army drove them out and moved closer to the capital. They recaptured a bridge fortress, Ft. Brahma. After recapturing Ft. Brahman, however, a few men who had gone into the forest never returned, and Daniel, sensing trouble, went to investigate himself.
He ran into the two commandos from before, but they had been turned into something akin to demons. They explained that they had gone to Almenga and Brunhild had performed a summoning on them which gave them great power - the power to defeat the one they hated most, Daniel Vinyard. They also revealed the truth about Daniel's father, that he was Emperor Siegfried. Daniel attempted to fight them but was easily defeated, and would have died there if not for Brunhild - or rather, Sigrid in Brunhild's body - creating a diversion to save him.
They then forced the forces at a pass through the mountains to surrender with some work, allowing Daniel, Angel, and Jovian to finally visit Levier; however, it did not revive any of Daniel's memories. Finally, they attacked St. Reinard.
They were horribly defeated, as an ambush had been set up for them in the woods, and were forced to reevaluate their strategy. However, a letter arrived from them from an escaped Kirgard soldier, saying that the Kirgardians were being forced to fight for Almenga. It went on to say that they were planning an organized revolt, and that the Elysium Army should attack at that time. Having no better alternative, Daniel and the others went along with the plan.
Sure enough, as they neared St. Reinard, a group of Kirgard soldiers appeared and went directly for the enemy general. Startlingly, they were led by one of the Almengan leaders, who had defected after prolonged exposure to the cruel man who had been put in charge of the invasion. The Almengan occupation forces were quickly driven out. Entering the city, Daniel ran into Bruce, who told them that the invasion had not been successful because of General Leonius's carelessness - it had been successful because the general had betrayed them to Almenga.
Thinking this over, Daniel realized something - while it seemed impossible that Brunhild could have caused the Kelsinger incident all by herself, if Leonius had been with Almenga all along, he could have set it up under her orders.
Despite the defeat they'd suffered, soon a small part of the Almengan army attacked St. Reinard, and were easily driven away. They were led by Brunhild, and Daniel, realizing that she was trying to draw him out, went after her. When they reached the Almengan border, she attacked them, and they only escaped alive because Clint appeared and fought Brunhild. They fled to a town in Almenga that did not support the emperor and rested there, only to make a run for their lives once more when Daniel sensed the presence of the two demon commandos. They were chased for quite a ways and were running out of energy when they ran into the whole Elysium Army - Deus, a priest who had been studying the demons, had learned how to sense them and gotten the army there in time. Daniel had the entire Elysium Army fight the two, but they failed to do more than force them away for the time being.
Needing more information on the matter, Tarlia, the ex-Almengan general, suggested a location called the Hall of Memories in Almenga, where ancient books were translated. They traveled there in search of information on the types of spirits that possessed the commandos, and learned that, apparently, their power stemmed from their confidence. Daniel also realized that a spirit must be possessing him - he wondered why he hadn't been driven mad as well; a mage traveling with them explained that it was because he had a stronger mind than the two commandos.
They then came up with a plan to defeat the demons - they would pretend that they had a method to separate the spirits from their bodies, thus weakening the demons. Their confidence would fall at the idea that their power could be destroyed, leaving them vulnerable enough to defeat. The plan was successful, and after an arduous fight, Daniel was free of the two, leaving him to focus on the war with Almenga.
Daniel received a letter from Almenga asking him to come to a location near the border. As it was on the Kirgard side, it was deemed safe for him to go, so he did. The person they met was Gudrun, the former supreme commander of the Almengan forces, who had sent the letter herself. She said that she felt the emperor and Brunhild were plotting behind her back and not letting her in on what their plan really was, and asked what Daniel and Tarlia knew about it. Before they could really discuss, however, they were sucked into the world known as the spiritual plane, where spirits and souls of the deceased live. Gudrun, who had read about it, figured out where they were, and said the some spirit must have drawn them there. Intent on finding their way out, they split up and searched for a way out.
Along the way, Tarlia explained to Gudrun the truth about Sigrid and the twins. When the two groups met up, they were attacked by the spirit who had possessed the two commandos. They tried to fight, but couldn't destroy it. That was when Hand of Fate separated from Daniel and, in one blow, killed the less powerful spirit.
Daniel's first thought was that, now that Hand of Fate was separated from him, it was his chance to destroy it. However, the spirit reminded him that they would never be able to return to the human world without its help, and eventually Daniel was forced to agree and merge with Hand of Fate once more. They returned to the world they had come from, and Gudrun, saying that she had heard what she needed to hear, left for Almenga again.
When Daniel returned to plan the attack on Almenga's capital, Vanaheim, they received a message from Siegfried. The message said that if Daniel came to Vanaheim, alone and unarmed, they would tell him everything he wanted to know. Everyone urged Daniel not to accept the invitation, saying that he could get the information when they defeated Almenga once and for all.
That night, Daniel talked with Ljusalf again, eventually deciding that he would go, but talking to Eander first and leaving him in charge. At the border the next day, Daniel was met by Angel, who talked to him briefly. Daniel gave her his sword, reminiscing about the day he had received it from her father, and told her he'd see her again.
He entered Vanaheim and was escorted directly to the emperor and Brunhild. Getting straight to the point, he asked immediately about the Hand of Fate and what it was. Siegfried explained about his past, his desire for a unified world, and how Daniel had been born as one designed to be the world's greatest leader. He talked about fate, explaining that it was not an unpredictable force, but something that could be controlled - he said that all of Daniel's actions had been controlled by himself, including coming there that day.
Daniel became angry and argued with him, saying that he'd come there because he chose to and insisting that there was no such thing as an 'acceptable sacrifice' - all the people who had been killed for Siegfried's dream should not have died that way. Siegfried continued to disagree, when a soldier rushed in with an announcement: the Elysium Army was right outside the city.
That was the time when Daniel was meant to put his plan into action. Shoving Brunhild aside and grabbing the soldier's sword, he ran to the throne and stabbed Siegfried through the heart. With his last breaths, the emperor told Daniel that he had been another acceptable sacrifice, and that all his wishes had come true.
The news of the emperor's death got to the army fast, and the chaos allowed Daniel to escape. Siegfried's death was the signal for the Elysium Army to attack, and despite the Imperial army refusing to back down, they won the battle.
Brunhild was still inside the castle, and Daniel, with a small group, went after her. Along the way, he encountered Leonius, who explained his motivations, fought, and died, and Gudrun, who was furious with Daniel for killing Siegfried, whom she had been in love with. She died fighting as well, and Daniel continued on to find Brunhild in the throne room.
Brunhild told Daniel everything that had happened. She told him how Hand of Fate had chased her away for its own ambitions, how their mother's soul lived on inside her, and how she had always hated not being the 'chosen' one. She fought Daniel and lost, then revealed to him her plan: She had the real Last Reports from the Hall of Memories, which did in fact contain a way to separate human and spirit. She explained that, if they performed the exorcism, they could destroy Hand of Fate once and for all, and Daniel agreed to her plan.
They successfully performed the exorcism. However, before they could draw their weapons and fight Hand of Fate, it rushed at Brunhild, merging with her instead of Daniel. Daniel's group was forced to fight the spirit in Brunhild's body, eventually weakening her enough to make her regain her self. Daniel told her to come with them, because she was wounded. Instead, Brunhild put up a magical wall between them, saying that there was only one way to destroy Hand of Fate for good.
Daniel pleaded with her, insisting that she could control Hand of Fate as he had and saying that she was the only family he had left. However, Brunhild told him that she wasn't as strong as he was, and that it was too easy to let it take control. Daniel tried to break the wall, but before he could break through, Brunhild made the entire half of the room she was in explode.
Swallowing his feelings for the time being, Daniel and his group headed back to the others, knowing they had work to do.
A few months later, it was official: the Republic of Elysium, consisting of Kirgard, Zelmony, Almenga and Highland, was a country. Daniel explained that he would be the leader until a president was elected by the people... and then surprised everyone by saying that instead of going for the job himself, he would be backing Jovian Knight, who he knew would make a great leader. He said that there were still countries in the world that they needed to think about, and that he would travel with Nashal to her home country in an effort to learn about them and make better relations with the other nations. Jovian was elected in a near-landslide, and Daniel did travel to Gojistan and the neighboring countries, remaining even when war broke out between Gojistan and the Rocaine Empire nearby.
Personality: Daniel is a polite, pleasant, and reasonable person, almost to a fault. He is a very "let's talk this out like civilized people" type of person, and always makes sure to consider every side of a story before judging. However, Daniel is also strong-willed, and generally speaks his mind. On top of that, he is fairly idealistic. He hates war and the unnecessary toll it takes on human life and, despite being a colonel in the Kirgard military at the time, has been called a pacifist in the past for this. Daniel never claims to be one himself, however; he doesn't hold himself so high that he won't kill when he believes it is necessary.
After being denounced as a traitor by the State Union, Daniel was forced to reexamine his ideals in a more realistic way. He has since realized that not everyone sees things his way, and that his way of seeing things is in fact quite unusual. Since then, he has been more open to compromises than in the past, understanding that sometimes his ideal scenarios won't work in the real world.
As mentioned above, Daniel is literally designed to be a great leader. He is naturally highly charismatic, good at putting his thoughts into words and making others see his point of view; however, his sometimes radically idealistic opinions have a tendency to turn people against him. He is also skilled at negotiating. However, he generally makes decisions based on what he believes is best, rather than strictly following orders.
Despite his nearly always polite demeanor, Daniel is capable of becoming irritated, and even losing his temper, around people who have continuously grated on his nerves. He can be slightly sarcastic at times like this.
Item Lost: His sword, Seraphim, given to him by Angel's father on his eighteenth birthday. To him, it's a symbol of the years he spent with Jovian, Angel and Brunhild.
